From larger international conferences hosted at Northeastern University to smaller workshops and co-sponsored events, the Center for Emerging Markets has helped build a thriving intellectual environment around emerging markets.

Frontiers in International Business Conference 

October 2022 – The Center for Emerging Markets co-sponsored the Frontiers in International Business Conference. The theme of this year's conference was “Multinational Companies and Sustainability in Global Supply Chains.


Summit: India-U.S. Partnership for Innovation

October 2022 – The Center for Emerging Markets and the Consulate General of India, New York organized a high-level summit on India-U.S. partnership for innovation. Speakers explored innovation in sectors ranging from water, renewable energy, and communications, to electronics, digital businesses, healthcare, and space exploration.


Sixth Global Strategy and Emerging Markets Conference

May 2022 – The Center for Emerging Markets co-organized the 6th Annual Global Strategy and Emerging Markets Conference. The theme of this year's conference was “Geopolitics, Emerging Markets, and Global Strategies.”


Fifth Global Strategy and Emerging Markets Conference

November 2020 – The Center for Emerging Markets co-organized the 5th Annual Global Strategy and Emerging Markets Conference. The theme of the conference was “Competing in the Digital Word.”


Conference: Constructive Engagement – Exploring Challenges of the US-China Trade War

November 2019 – The Cornell Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) annual conference, co-sponsored by CEM, explored the diverse challenges brought by the U.S.-China trade war and the need to build bridges and encourage dialogue. 


Associated Industries of Massachusetts Global Trade Symposium & Awards

November 2019 – Ravi Ramamurti, Director of the Center for Emerging Markets, participated in a panel highlighting the perspectives of several global business leaders.


Summit on Brazil at Northeastern University

October 2019 – The Center for Emerging Markets co-sponsored the student-organized BRASA Summit, which explored the future of the economy, politics, and technology in Brazil. There were over 500 Brazilian students in attendance. 


Conference: State Capitalism and the Firm

August 2019 – Organized by Northeastern University, Loughborough University in London, and Brandeis University, this conference brought together scholars from a variety of academic disciplines to explore how state capitalism works in the present day. It examined new forms of state capitalism that often cross the boundaries that traditionally separated state enterprises and private businesses.


Digital Transformation and Innovation in the Emerging Markets

June 2019 – Conducted in partnership with the Center for Emerging Markets and Cornell's Emerging Markets Institute, the conference explored the impact of digitalization and innovation on growth markets across the globe, and the associated opportunities and challenges.
