Building on the power of diversity
The D'Amore-McKim School of Business community stands with our university and its leadership in our dedication to cultivating equity and inclusion for all humankind. Understanding and solving our problems requires constant interaction among people who bring their own diverse contexts and experiences to the conversation. Therefore, we must be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that values the uniqueness of its members, recognizes the power and importance of diversity in our own and surrounding communities, and ensures their engaged participation.
Northeastern's new academic plan, Experience Unleashed, has a strong focus on the ways in which we can build on the power of diversity. D'Amore-McKim's vision and mission are strongly aligned with this future-forward plan.
Northeastern is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community

Current efforts toward our goals
D'Amore-McKim Inclusion Leader
Associate Professor of Management and Organizational Development Marla Baskerville currently serves as D'Amore-McKim's Inclusion Leader. In this role, she reports directly to the Dean and advises the college leadership team on matters of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. She has a particular emphasis on faculty issues, including recruiting, retention, promotion, and interactions with students and staff. She is also an active and engaged representative of D'Amore-McKim's diversity, inclusion, and belonging efforts at the college and university level.
Marla is an award-winning teacher whose research and teaching interests include diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and she brings significant passion and expertise to this new role.
Office of Student Engagement, Affinity, and Inclusion (OSEAI)
The D'Amore-McKim Office of Student Engagement, Affinity, and Inclusion (OSEAI), led by Heather Hauck, cultivates a culture of belonging where every student feels respected, valued, and heard. Over the last few years, these efforts have focused on undergraduate students, including the Building Belonging Fellows program, Women in Finance, the P.A.C. Mentorship Program, and now the Hajim Scholars Program — an initiative that supports first-generation, low-income students through access to career path exploration and professional network-essential resources to help them reach their full scholarly potential. The team behind this work is part of the Dean's Office and will be working to find ways to expand these efforts to all students at D'Amore-McKim.
Building Belonging Fellows
Faculty/Staff Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council
Nearly a year ago, D'Amore-McKim leadership formed a Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council comprised of both faculty and staff. The Council serves the school as advisors and champions on these issues related to students, faculty, and staff. Its primary goals and objectives include identifying strategies for enhancing diversity, embedding it into our curriculum, sharing content for building awareness, and increasing accountability and transparency for our entire community.
Since forming, the council has helped organize open and safe conversations around accommodating issues of racial and social inequality in our curricula and class discussions, and they have supported other educational opportunities concerning tolerance and inclusion in order to foster a culture of belonging among faculty and staff.
A commitment to organizations that foster diversity
We have deepened our relationships with organizations that support business student diversity, including The Posse Foundation, The National Black MBA Association (NBMBA), The Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA), The Ph.D. Project, The Business School Consortium, and The Forte Foundation in order to build talent pipelines into D'Amore-McKim that reflect ethnic and gender diversity.
Other student engagement opportunities
There are numerous university-wide and D'Amore-McKim-affiliated student group opportunities available to our students, and several are grounded in building inclusive communities and resiliency. These include the Black Business Student Association, Out In Business (OIB), Smart Woman Securities (SWS), WISE (Women's Interdisciplinary Society of Entrepreneurship), Women in Business (WIB), and Women in Finance (WIF).
The Graduate School of Professional Accounting has also launched its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fellows program. D'Amore-McKim School of Business is also a proud sponsor of the Reaching Out LGBT+ MBA Fellowship (ROMBA) – a national scholarship and leadership development program.
