These ten exceptional undergraduate students participated in the inaugural Windows on Washington: Commercial Diplomacy Program, an immersive four-day leadership experience in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/damore-mckim.northeastern.edu\/cem\/news\/disanto-gift-cem\/\">DiSanto Student Engagement and Innovation Award<\/a> is made possible by a generous endowed gift from Edmund &#8220;Ed&#8221; DiSanto (CPS '75), former Executive Vice President at American Tower Corporation, and his wife, Colleen. The award provides full funding for Boston-area public high school graduates to participate in transformative experiential learning opportunities that align with CEM's mission to develop globally minded business leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Windows on Washington: Commercial Diplomacy Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Windows on Washington: Commercial Diplomacy Program, organized in partnership with the<a href=\"https:\/\/bciu.org\/\"> Business Council for International Understanding<\/a> (BCIU), offers students a firsthand look at the intersection of business, policymaking, and global affairs. The program is designed to expand students' professional horizons while strengthening their understanding of how public and private institutions collaborate to shape economic and international policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Over four days in March 2026, award recipients participated in curated briefings, site visits, and high-level engagements with U.S. government agencies, corporate leaders, and multilateral institutions. Students explored how technical expertise and commercial strategy influence global policy outcomes and participated in a mock strategic market entry project to apply their insights to real-world scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The 2026 cohort visited and engaged with senior leaders from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>U.S. Department of Commerce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>World Bank<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs, U.S. Department of State<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Science Foundation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>American Tower Corporation &amp; National Association of Real Estate Trusts (NAREIT)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motorola Solutions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Students also attended a congressional hearing on U.S. competitiveness and had a chance to visit the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CEM's Mission in Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Windows on Washington Program embodies CEM's commitment to preparing the next generation of business leaders to navigate the complexities of the global economy. Her work focuses on housing, economic development, and state and local policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Previously, Lucy served as an Education Program Staff at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, where she helped facilitate policy-focused educational programs for students, educators, and public officials from domestic and international backgrounds. She also previously worked at Tenacity, a Boston-based youth development nonprofit, where she led athletic and academic programs for participants. In high school, she served as a Youth Engagement Facilitator at Teen Empowerment, where she supported community programs, conducted needs assessments, and contributed to social service initiatives for youth development. She previously interned at Northeastern's Sherman Venture Center for Engineering Entrepreneurship, where she advanced the venture's operational strategy and market positioning. In recognition of her leadership and innovation, she was named the recipient of Northeastern University's Office of Belonging's Inclusive Impact Innovation Award in 2024 and a Women Who Empower Social Impact Awardee in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Naomi currently serves as a Property Management Intern at Synergy, a commercial real estate firm located in Boston's Financial District. In this role, Jack serves as a full-time call taker, answering and logging 50 to 100 calls per day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">While on co-op, Jack also works part-time as a Building Supervisor for Northeastern's recreation facilities, overseeing a team of 3 to 7 student employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">From August 2025 to November 2025, Jack participated in a Dialogue+ in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Egypt, focusing on peacebuilding through global leadership and diplomacy. In this role, she was a primary point of contact for institutional clients, ensuring seamless trade execution and post-trade processing across State Street's trading platforms.
