The Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University presented its fifth annual India Summit, Can India Become a Global Manufacturing Hub?<\/em>, on October 5, 2026, as part of the Vivek and Vandana Sharma India Initiative<\/a><\/em>. Building on past summits that explored innovation, the startup economy, sustainability, and family business, this year's summit turned to India's emerging role as a manufacturing mecca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The day-long program brought together policymakers, corporate executives, and academics to examine how multinational firms are shifting manufacturing operations to India and what that shift means for global supply chains. Speakers included Shri Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog and India's G20 Sherpa; Josh Foulger, a senior figure in Indian electronics manufacturing; along with Shri S. Raghuram, India's Consul General in Boston, among many others.
