Programming and Mentoring

  • Programming and Mentoring

D'Amore-McKim School of Business students have the opportunity to foster their educational and personal development by taking advantage of various programming geared towards language fluency, peer mentoring and academic success.

    Language Speaking Partners Program

The Language Speaking Partners program facilitates cultural competency and language fluency for Chinese and U.S. business students. The program groups business students who are from China with U.S. students who will be going abroad to China, and during the semester-long program the Language Speaking Partners meet at least twice a week to learn from each other. They practice Chinese and English language skills and teach each other about Chinese and U.S. culture. The goal of this program is for students to develop an equal partnership where everyone benefits in cross-cultural learning. The Language Speaking Partners program also holds large group events throughout each semester to encourage group conversations and diverse friendships.

    Global Leaders Mentor Program

In an effort to create a welcoming and supportive environment for new international and out-of-region students, the D'Amore-McKim School of Business Global Leadership Program is designed to create a peer-to-peer connection between successful upperclassmen and new freshman students. Participating freshmen are assigned to an upperclassman mentor by the start of the fall semester at Northeastern. The program helps international and out-of-region students adjust to college academic performance requirements, life in a new area, and introduces them to the Northeastern community experience.
