Research and Teaching Interests

Professor Banalieva’s research focuses on the regional/global strategies, internationalization-performance, and strategic alliances and divestments of multinational firms. Professor Banalieva’s teaching interests include conducting interactive, team-based, and cross-cultural simulations and video case studies to illustrate the complexities of doing business in an international context.

Industry and Academic Experience

Prior to joining Northeastern University’s D'Amore-McKim School of Business faculty, Professor Banalieva worked at Indiana University. She was also a research assistant for the immigrant entrepreneurs in Iowa project at Simpson College. Professor Banalieva has worked as a finance intern for Ruan Securities and Edwards Jones.

Professional Services

Professor Banalieva is co-chair for the Academy of Management’s IMD Doctoral Students Committee (2006-2008) and an active member of the Academy of International Business and Academy of Management.
